Udhayanidhi Stalin’s film career began in 2008 when he started Red Giant Movies, a production company that has produced several successful Tamil films, including Kuruvi (2008), Aadhavan (2009), Manmadan Ambu (2010), and 7aum Arivu (2011).
He made his acting debut in 2012 with the romantic comedy Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, which was a critical and commercial success. And won several awards for his performance, including the SIIMA Award for Best Male Debutant.
He continued to act in successful films in the following years, including Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal (2014), Gethu (2014), Nannbenda (2015), Manithan (2016), Nimir (2018), and Kalaga Thalaivan (2022).
His last film, Maamannan, was released in June 2023.

Political career
Udhayanidhi Stalin is a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a political party in Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in 2016 from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency.
In December 2022, he was appointed Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development by his father, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin.
Udhayanidhi Stalin is considered to be a potential successor to his father as the leader of the DMK.
Controversies
Actor controversies
Udhayanidhi Stalin has also been involved in several controversies related to his acting career. In 2014, he was accused of plagiarism for his film “Gethu”. The film was accused of copying the plot of the 2011 American film “Drive”. Udhayanidhi Stalin denied the allegations, but the controversy damaged his reputation.
In 2017, Udhayanidhi Stalin was accused of nepotism for his film “Nanbenda”. The film was directed by his wife, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. Udhayanidhi Stalin defended the film, saying that he had chosen Kiruthiga as the director because she was the best person for the job.
Political controversies
Udhayanidhi Stalin entered politics in 2011, when he was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He has been a vocal critic of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
2023 : Udhayanidhi Stalin made a controversial remark about Sanatana Dharma. He said that Sanatana Dharma is “against social justice and equality” and should be “eradicated”. The remark sparked outrage from Hindu groups, and several cases were filed against Udhayanidhi Stalin under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In January 2024, Udhayanidhi Stalin made a controversial statement about the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He said that the DMK was not opposed to the construction of a temple, but that it was not in agreement with the construction of a temple after demolishing a mosque.
